Even greater than those committed to creating physical beauty are those committed to the beauty of giving back to the world by utilizing their creativity and talent. That is what makeup (artistry) is for me!
— Shiedha

Shiedha (pronounced Shy-e-dah) Williams Burbage, who goes by “Shy” to those who know her, is a leader, businesswoman, and speaker with a gift for intuitively anticipating her client's needs, resulting in a uniquely crafted experience with each collaboration. With a dual career as a highly sought-after DC makeup artist and seasoned human resources (HR) executive, she exemplifies what it means to follow your dreams and live on your terms.

While pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature at Hampton University, Shiedha began taking her first clients in her freshman dormitory, Twitchell Hall. Throughout her matriculation, Shiedha noticed she was slowly gaining clients and focusing on makeup as a real career. Due to the Great Recession, however, opportunities were limited, and her entrepreneurial aspirations stalled. She took a position working for international cosmetics brands and instantly fell in love, as makeup artistry had been her lifelong passion. In her early years, she received formal training in makeup artistry for all skin tones, sales, and invaluable experience working with clients from various walks of life.

Her time as a Beauty Advisor supporting major cosmetics brands sparked a desire to start her own business as a freelance makeup artist. After building a solid roster of clients, she founded Hellooo Gorgeous in 2012. As a makeup company specializing in luxury makeup for bridal and special occasions, Hellooo Gorgeous, has been featured in notable media outlets such as VOGUE, Washingtonian Weddings, BRIDE magazine, ESSENCE, Oprah’s “O” Magazine, Munaluchi Bride, The Grio, The New York Times and The Washington Post. In 2017, Shiedha was spotlighted as a beauty expert on ABC affiliate station WJLA, further solidifying her influence as a leader in the industry.

While working to build her makeup business, the economy improved, and Shiedha decided to return to the HR field in Technology, Government Contracting, and Politics. She continued to run her makeup business, and before her grandfather passed away in 2015, he encouraged her to do what made her happy - even if that meant doing both things. Shiedha remembered her grandfather’s words “Don’t look back on life wishing you would have utilized all of your God-given talents!” His wisdom helped her realize she didn’t have to choose one career over the other, and she has successfully managed both.

Shiedha’s artistry, organizational development, project management, creativity, and communication skills make her a leader in both facets of her career. Whether creating the perfect makeup look for a client or keeping her corporate organization running efficiently, her warm and inviting personality is a bonus to her intelligence, professionalism, and impeccable attention to detail.

She is pursuing a Master’s in Human Resource Management focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Georgetown University. In 2022, Shiedha joined NBCUniversal’s makeup department as the Key Makeup artist for Symone Sanders Townsend on MSNBC. Shiedha’s work has been recently featured on Good Morning America, BET, OWN, BRAVO, with historically elected officials, musicians, actors and notable celebrity clientele visiting Washington, D.C. She enjoys spending time with her loving husband, close-knit family, and supportive friends, studying leadership, beauty, and makeup.
